What is Zelf Legacy?
It solves one of the most critical problems in crypto: "What happens to your assets when you die?"
Unlike traditional solutions that require transferring funds to a third-party or smart contract, Zelf Legacy focuses on access inheritance. We do not move your funds. We securely transmit access rights to your designated beneficiary only upon verified inactivity and rigorous biometric proof.

How it Works
A secure, private, and automated protocol
1. Create your Will
Open Zelf Legacy from your wallet
The flow starts inside the wallet itself. Open the account menu, enter Zelf Legacy, and begin creating an inheritance plan without leaving the main app experience.
Enable "Legacy Mode" and designate your beneficiary. You provide their details and a verification photo, ensuring only they can claim access.
2. Lawyer Attestation

The lawyer opens Zelf Legacy from their wallet or the dedicated lawyer portal to view and manage pending attestation requests.
A licensed lawyer reviews pending attestations from their dashboard, verifies vault details, and completes biometric identity verification before approving the will on-chain.
3. Heartbeat Protocol

The testator opens Zelf Legacy and taps "Update liveness" to initiate a new heartbeat proof before the inactivity timer expires.
Your Zelf app sends periodic cryptographic heartbeats to the Avalanche C-Chain inheritance contract, proving you are active. Signals are privacy-preserving and tamper-proof. When the timer reaches zero, the inheritance protocol activates.
4. Lawyer Execution Approval

The lawyer opens the app in lawyer.zelf context and navigates to the Lawyer Dashboard to view legacies awaiting action.
When the inactivity period and grace period expire without a heartbeat, the Guardian Oracle notifies the lawyer. The lawyer reviews the vault, verifies their identity, and approves execution on-chain so the will becomes claimable by beneficiaries.
5. Secure Claim
An inheritance is ready to claim
The beneficiary receives a secure notice that a Zelf Legacy plan is now available and can begin the guided claim flow.
After the inactivity period and grace period expire, your beneficiary can claim the legacy. We use ZelfProof biometric verification to ensure it's truly them.
